Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)-Anantnag was sanctioned by ICAR through communication No. 6-6/2012-AE-II on March 31, 2012, at Nowpora Dooru, Anantnag, under the council's plan scheme. Envisioned as an innovative institutional model, KVK serves for the assessment, refinement, and on-farm demonstration of agricultural technologies, alongside training trainers and farmers. Operating under the umbrella of SKUAST-Kashmir, its jurisdiction spans the entire Anantnag district. KVK, a noble concept by ICAR, facilitates the transfer of technology from the laboratory to the farmers' fields, covering animal husbandry, floriculture, beekeeping, mushroom agriculture, horticulture, anima cultivation, and related subjects. With more than 731 KVKs established nationwide, they play a pivotal role in creating technical manpower, confirming technologies suited to local specificity, capacity building, being a front runner in technology application, information dissemination, and fostering participatory approaches in planning, implementing, executing, and evaluation.
